Each year’s grape season has its peaks and valleys, and the 2023 Central Valley grape deal will be no different, according to Sunview Marketing, which has been growing the highest quality table grapes in the Central Valley of California for the past three generations.

“Every year presents unique challenges and opportunities,” said Mitch Wetzel, Sunview’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Despite the historic winter snowfall in California, water has been and will continue to be an issue in California. As a third-generation family farm, we always take a long-term view of the grape market and the weather.”

After the unique weather season in California, Sunview is getting ready for this year’s table grape season and has the experience to “weather any storm” that mother nature might bring.

The grape season outlook for 2023 is looking very strong, and the leaders of Sunview are excited to supply its fresh grapes to retail partners and consumers worldwide.

“This year we anticipate the grape harvest to start a little later than usual due to weather conditions,” Wetzel said. “Still, we are confident that Sunview’s family farms’ years of hands-on experience will result in the quality and consistency our customers have come to expect.”

Family-owned for more than 70 years, Sunview remains enthusiastic about a high-quality year for grapes overall.

“While our vines are not producing fruit year-round, we do not have an ‘offseason,’” Wetzel said. “Our sales team has had excellent meetings with our customers worldwide during the winter and early spring. Our customers’ confidence continues to be high, and everyone is anxious to get going with the Central Valley California grape season.”

During meetings and discussions with customers, one of Sunview’s aspects that they value highly is the company’s consistency.

“We look forward to a great harvest as we move through the year,” Wetzel said. “We will have promotable volumes of conventional and organic grapes throughout the season.”

Sunview starts California’s Central Valley grape season with Flame, Sugraone and Summer Royal varieties. By the end of July, the company begins shipping its exclusive grape—Sparkle, Rosa, Stella Bella and its third season of Crown, a delicious green seedless grape that had incredible success last season.

Sunview’s mid-season grapes are proprietary Gem, Sorella Bella and Sweet Bella grapes.

“Building on the fantastic success from the last two years, the company’s latest star brand, high-flavored exclusive Sweet Carnival, starts in early September and runs through mid-December,” Wetzel said. “We are also expanding the Carnival line of grape brands to include new Carnival Fruit Punch, available this year. It is an amazing red seedless grape that is bursting with fresh fruit flavors.”

The company continues to work on new grape brands that will be available in limited quantities this season. The development timeline for new grape brands is  more than 10 years.

“Our efforts continue to bring great brands that have developed a solid following with consumers worldwide, including Stella Bella, Sparkle, and the Carnival family of brands,” Wetzel said.

“With no outside growers or production involved, our customers can be confident that Sunview Marketing is ‘Your Single Source’ for grapes out of the Central Valley.”

The entire team at Sunview is eager to start the 2023 grape season and customers worldwide can enjoy summer fun and summertime fruit, as it brings sweet and delicious grapes to market.
