North Bay Produce Outlines Product Portfolio Insights for June 2023

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Summer is beginning to shine its bounty upon us, and I for one am especially excited to eat up all the delicious fruits and veggies hitting the market. Providers like North Bay Produce have a similarly bountiful portfolio to keep retailers stocked and ready all summer long.

First up is asparagus, which North Bay Produce touts in its latest newsletter.

“We have abundant quantity of conventional asparagus in 28 lb and 11 lb banded bunches, and will be offering promotions the first couple weeks of June,” the company said. “Our southern farm is about 80 percent finished and our northern farm has about three weeks left.”

North Bay Produce also offers an array of value-added veggies from Guatemala and Mexico, with multiple containers of conventional and organic French beans being sent to its Miami, Florida, warehouse weekly. By the end of June, snow peas and sugar snap peas will arrive from Peru.

The company also outlined the current state of Michigan apples, reporting that although unseasonably warm weather is present, it anticipates “a good crop this fall due to a cooler beginning of spring and a slow warm-up with no frost events in [its] growing areas.”

North Bay also has domestic blueberries coming out of North Carolina and Georgia, with New Jersey blueberries expected to hit the marketplace in a couple of weeks. Its blackberries are also being harvested in Georgia and North Carolina, although they are experiencing some wet weather. The provider believes that this weather should improve and blackberries will start increasing in volume the more we head into June.
