Mangos often create a sort of mania among their fans. They will not have to wait long, according to one Mexican mango packer.

Empaque Don Jorge I in El Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico began the new season and is currently packing Crespo Organic Ataulfos from El Grupo Crespo’s Nayarit orchards. The packhouse is owned by El Grupo Crespo, according to a news release.

The company is ready for the heavy volume of mangoes coming and its summer mango season to commence. It expects to pack 25% more volume this season over last season.

The company built a larger packing facility over the last few years, according to the release. It is 155,000 square feet, configured for eight packing lines to pack over 14 different labels for growers across Mexico and some U.S. mango importers.

Delays to the start of the Nayarit fruit give the packhouse a little more time to get ready for processing in full capacity, according to the release. The entire mango packing process happens in 72 hours, with over 18 hours allocated to cooling.

The packhouse was originally built by Roberto Crespo Fitch in the 1970s. It went through a modernization in 2016 by Fitch’s children, Malu, Roberto, Jorge and Jose Angel. The siblings now run the family business alongside the family matriarch, Maluz Duran Valdez.
