Brazilian mango exports are poised to finish the year on a positive note, with significant contributions from Bahia, the largest fruit exporter in the country. Unlike the previous year, international shipments from Bahia are expected to grow, with output already showing a 19% increase compared to 2022. Revenue from mango shipments until October has reached record levels, marking a 36% rise, according to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea-SP).

While the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation, Fisheries, and Aquaculture (Seagri) suggests that fruit production in the São Francisco Valley (encompassing cities in Bahia and Pernambuco) may not surpass the record set in 2021, which was 272.5 thousand tonnes, the region continues to see significant mango exports to the international market. Factors contributing to the strong performance include favorable weather conditions and increased demand for Brazilian mangoes.
