Agronometrics GTD Shorts: Peruvian Jump in Blueberry Exports Surprises Wk 50 & 51

By Agronometrics | 26 December 2023

Peruvian blueberry exports during weeks 50 and 51 of 2023 double last year’s volume, marking a departure from the prevailing trend. This development will have to be closely monitored, but it could have far reaching implications for global markets, and in particular on Chilean Exports.

An example of this would be the US market, where these volumes are expected to be registered as imports during week 3, or 4 of 2024, nearing the height of Chile’s imports in 2023. Last season Peru represented around 30% of the market during weeks 3 and 4, doubling Peruvian volumes would put them close to 50% of the market and would add more pressure on pricing.
