Fruit Royale Inc. has been successfully growing, packing, importing, exporting and promoting grapes since 2004, working directly with its contracted growers on all aspects of fruit production.

The company is responsible for more than 1,200 acres in California with the San Joaquin Valley helping to supply customers from July through December — accounting for more than 1 million cases of grapes in the state and imports from Peru, Chile and Mexico adding another million boxes.

“We are a 365-day supplier of fresh table grapes to and from the globe,” said Louie Galvan, managing partner of the Dealno, CA-based company. “Grapes is all we do, all the time.”

Fruit Royale has a large presence in Mexico, where it sources grapes such as Perlette, Sugarcone, Flame, Red Globe and Black Seedless. The company also grows and ships grapes from California, Peru, Chili and Egypt.

With next March being the 20th anniversary for the company, Fruit Royale continues to expand and change with the times.

“We have seen big changes in our beloved industry,” Galvan said. “As the relationships and commitments remain a key to our core business, the business continues to evolve and progress yearly. We are here to guide our partners through the process and continue to evolve ourselves simultaneously.”

The key to the success for the company has been honesty, integrity and pride in the work. And those are philosophies that have been with Fruit Royale since the beginning.

Last year was a typical year for the grape company — full of ups and downs.

“Our programs and loyal customer base helped smooth the rough edges and overall we met the challenges and continue to strive for better,” Galvan said. “Although we expect a late start here in California for this season, we are hopeful due to fantastic quality and size on the vine. This should be a banner year for us.”

Although it imports from around the globe, California, Galvan noted, is the “King of Fresh Table Grapes.”

“No one grows them bigger, tastier or better,” he said.

Varietals seem to be all the rage these days, and Fruit Royale plans to stay ahead of the curve with new offerings this season, just as it does every year.

“We try and preach ‘flavor,’ and the overall eating experience as the way to increase our repeat business,” Galvan said. “There are too many varieties gaining in population to mention, but a good strategy is always to capture the customers’ eyes with size and keep them coming back with flavor and crunch.”

Retailers can do their part in helping grape growers succeed by promoting healthy eating across the entire produce department and educating customers on the uniqueness of varietals and what sets them apart.

As grapes continue to see surging sales this year, Fruit Royale believes it has the winning formula to stay on top of the category in the produce industry.

“Our company continues to provide a one-stop shop for all things grapes on a year-round basis for our worldwide customers,” Galvan said. “Team work makes the dream work!”
