CALIFORNIA – After several months of severe weather in California’s Monterey and Santa Cruz counties, UAV-IQ is launching its BioDrop biological pest control by drone season for berry farmers. As growers deal with the adverse effects of the storms, which caused delays to the start of the season, this service will support them in getting back on track.

The UAV-IQ team is excited to kick off this new BioDrop season with berry suppliers in California’s Central Coast region, according to a release. BioDrop is a drone-performed biological pest control application that releases beneficial insects and mites throughout commercial farms, providing a sustainable and effective pest management approach.

For berry farmers, spider mites can be a major problem, but the BioDrop team is ready to help them apply preventative treatment before even farmworkers can enter the still-draining fields.

Drones can also rapidly and uniformly release beneficial insects and mites over muddy fields, helping to reduce the impact of spider mites on crops and helping to increase yields. This is especially useful to berry growers that are dealing with flooding and waterlogged acreage.
