Peruvian blueberries got off to a bad start due to lower prices in January

Peruvian blueberry exports during January 2025 decreased compared to the same period of last year. Exports totaled 23,454 tons, reaching a value of $110.31 million. This is 15% less volume and 41% less value. The average price stood at $4.70 per kilogram (-31.3%).

One of the determining factors for this drop was the reduction in shipments to China, where exports fell from $15 million in January 2024 to only $2 million in 2025, accompanied by a generalized drop in the price of the product.

Peru exported its blueberries to 24 countries. The United States continued to be the main destination for fresh Peruvian blueberries, accounting for 64% of exports, with 14,721 tons worth $70.51 million, and an average price of $4.79 per kilogram. Compared to January 2024, exports to the US decreased by 1% in volume and 30% in value, with a 29% reduction in average cost.

The Netherlands was the second destination with a 21% share, 5,151 tons worth $23.24 million, and an average price of $4.51 per kilogram. In annual terms, the volume exported increased by 33%, though the value fell by 12% and the average cost decreased by 34%.

The United Kingdom ranked third with 1,791 tons worth $7.34 million and an average price of $4.10 per kilogram, i.e. -45% compared to 2024. The volume shipped to this destination increased by 37% while the total value of exports decreased by 25%.
