IBO Webinar Sets the Stage for Release of the IBO Report on September 3rd
During the IBO webinar which took place on August 15th, ahead of the September 3rd release of the IBO report, several critical topics within the global blueberry industry were discussed. The webinar, which was a success with close to 300 participants, began with an overview of regional price trends, focusing on how global price increases in 2023 were influenced by strategic market moves, particularly in Peru. This was followed by an analysis of historical price trends, comparing fluctuations between 2022 and 2023, especially in response to weather-related issues in key producing regions.
The discussion then moved to factors affecting production, exploring both positive drivers and challenges within the industry. Weather events and their impact on supply chain disruptions were also covered, with a particular focus on the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
Another key discussion point was the emphasis on quality benchmarks and early-stage category segmentation. Field optimization and productivity enhancements were also highlighted.
The webinar concluded with discussions on global pricing, growth trends, the rise of counter-seasonal supply, and the growing role of institutional capital in the industry. The need for strategic planning, particularly in response to emerging market dynamics, was also emphasized. The session ended with an engaging Q&A, allowing participants to further explore the topics discussed.
