During a visit to Agroveli’s blueberry garden in Gochajikhaishi village, Khoni municipality, Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, alongside State Governor of Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze and Rural Development Agency Director Davit Tsitlidze, assessed the ongoing harvesting operations. Shamugia highlighted engagement with farmers to ascertain their requirements and extend support amidst the bustling blueberry harvest season.
Anticipations are set for blueberry production and export volumes to surge, aiming to yield GEL 100-120 million in export revenues for the agricultural sector. Irakli Pirtskhalashvili, the founder of Agroveli LLC, credited state initiatives for their pivotal role in the firm’s achievements. With a 32-hectare plantation, Agroveli LLC forecasts a production of 120-130 tons by 2024, having already dispatched 55 tons to European markets and providing employment to 20 permanent and 300 seasonal workers.
