…at least it might be for the Peruvian blueberry exports.

Yes!

Selling to as many “OTHERS” as possible will help Peru confront this particular year of big growth and challenging tariffs.

But WHO are those OTHERS?

Well, those are Other Destinations for the Peruvian blues..

They are the smaller category in the Proarandanos Forecast, and it is time to deal with them in this delivery of DC’s B-Side.

But first, let’s look at their history…

Peru Fresh Blueberry Exports By Partner | Cultivated Conventional

I like the graph, but… being 100% honest, it is not as clear as I would expect.

So, let’s take the raw data and make some charts…

Fun Facts! (or just facts… if you are having a BAD day)

The category has been growing for the last few years.

Season 2022/23, it went from 6.171.802kg of the previous season to 6.991.760kg (13,29%). That volume meant only 2,4% of the total exports.

The category had 23 participants and the 10 best meant as much as 93,2% of the total volume.

Season 2023/24 grew up to 9.172.141kg, jumping to 31,19% in volume, while the season’s total volume went down.

Not only that, but it was also 4,1% of the total exports.

The category loses a destination, for a total of 22, and the first 10 were 88,8% of the total volume.

Season 2024-25 was again a success, and this time with more fruit to share in all categories. With 14.598.297kg, things escalated to a whopping 59,16%!

Now, the 4,6% of the total exports was not bad.

With 21 participants in the category’s first 10 accounted for 89.3% of the total volume.

What does this mean?

The OTHERS are getting momentum, they are almost as big as the UK (5,02%), and they will JUST KEEP ON GOING… Like the Duracell Bunny!!

So, what is the Pro arandanos Forecast telling us…?

“It is estimated that shipments to other destinations would reach 14,621 tons, which would represent a growth of 10% compared to the 2024-2025 season and 70% more compared to the 2023-2024 season. The export peak would be recorded in week 42, with 842 tons, which would imply an increase of 16% compared to the peak of the 2024-2025 season (721 tons) and an increase of 110% compared to the peak of the 2023-2024 season (403 tons).”

And the graph will look like….

BUT, But, but… I have, definitely, something to add.

I know, it is not like me to have an opinion, and least of all use MY OWN newsletter to EXPRESS such an opinion…

But I think I will make an exception… just this time!!

I THINK… THEY ARE UNDERESTIMATING THE POWER OF THIS CATEGORY… BIG TIME!!

WHY??, YOU ASK…

That would take 2 whole issues of this newsletter to explain and a NEW forecast on my part..

But I would tell you this:

1. Tariffs are affecting the normal flow of merchandise in the north, and everywhere else too, for that matter, and Canada is one of the big 10 in this category.

2. India is also a player in the top 10. They have been growing, and they are the most populated country in the world TODAY.

3. Colombia and Brazil are both close, and they are growing. (re-read DC’s B-Side’s issue about Brazil)

4. So, do your math… or Schedule a CALL NOW, and I’ll do them WITH you

If I were the head of a commercial department, I would have already bought the plane tickets for my top sellers, destination… OTHER markets.

Now that I think about it…

Why not make a DC’s B-Side Forecast of the Peruvian exports…??

It would only be fair to the guys at Proarandanos. (they show me theirs, I show them mine)

So, I still have 3 more newsletter deliveries about the forecast: China, the US, and Europe.

That means that I can plan a conference to deliver MY Forecast around the 5th of June…

Is settle…

Have a GREAT Week!!!

PS: The OTHERS category is from the Pro arandanos charts, so the Agronometrics graph shows most of them, but handpicked.

PS: There is A LOT of data to take from the charts and to start your own analysis.

Don’t be shy and let me know which of the “underdogs” you liked best?

PS1: One more question…

Imagine you are a Peruvian producer/exporter, you have 3 countries to invest, let’s say 2 million dollars, in publicity so as to make the demand for your fruit grow…

In which of these 3 would you invest, and why?

BRAZIL

INDIA

THE US

PS2: The CALL is being upgraded to assist my clients better. Soon, you’ll be able to choose from

The Call (For those of you who want to ask something once in a while)

Friends & Family (Contact regularly… but not so much and for less than an hour)

The Call VIP (You don’t have time, you need an answer yesterday, and 15 minutes are more than enough)

How Soon?

Just a few more weeks …
